Chevy's Calypso Bar
Chevy's Calypso Bar, Pinney’s Beach, Nevis
As you walk south from the Four Seasons, the first place you will is one that's name I was never knew, but it was always busy, with very few tourists there. Next along the beach, set back from the beach, is Lime Cafe. I heard good things about the food there, but it’s not open for dinner. The next place is Chevy’s. Chevy’s chicken wings were the best I’ve ever had. Chevy greeted us and invited us to have a seat, enjoying many cool, refreshing drinks. One thing about Nevis is the owners greet you personally and are glad to share a story. Chevy was great to talk to, and described how he developed his recipes and the time he put into them.
Past Chevy’s, is Sunshine’s, then with a little longer walk, you will find Double Deuce.
Chevys re-opened in 2009 after rebuilding a new and improved building after the old Chevys was destroyed by the passing of Hurricane Omar in October 2008, But has since closed.
Chevys had a warm and welcoming setting just feet away from the be occean on beautiful Pinneys Beach. Red checkered dining tables line the huge deck. An added feature was their “Sunset Bar”, ideally located in the center of the deck where you can watch the beautiful Nevis sunset. Octagon shape gazebos line the beach front with picnic tables.
The menu featured traditional seafood such as Mahi Mahi in sauce, Lobster Creole, Shrimp Kebab and a great Coconut Shrimp Curry. Chevy’s also serve light bites such as Chevy’s Buffalo Wings, Shrimp or Lobster salads. They also serve a great organic Super burger. Looking for more West Indian style food? They also specialize in local dishes such as Nevisian Curry Mutton, Jerk Calypso Chicken or Jerk sandwich.
